FSU FOOTBALL: Joshua Farmer Selected by New England Patriots

TALLAHASSEE – Defensive lineman Joshua Farmer was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft Saturday, taken 137th overall by the New England Patriots. He was Florida State’s second selection of the 2025 Draft, joining defensive back Azareyeh’ Thomas, who was taken in the third round Friday by the New York Jets.

Farmer is the 57th Seminole defensive lineman drafted all-time, and the 38th in the first four rounds.

Florida State has had at least one player selected in the NFL Draft for 42 consecutive seasons, the eighth-longest active streak. Farmer is FSU’s 302nd all-time draft pick, with 216 of those coming since the Seminoles’ current streak began in 1984.

Thomas started 13 of 37 games in his career, finishing with 95 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. As a junior in 2024, the Niceville native earned All-ACC honorable mention recognition after finishing second on the team with a career-best 52 tackles. He added four pass breakups and his second career interception, in the end zone against Florida in the season finale. Thomas had a career-high six tackles three times last season.

As a sophomore in 2023, Thomas tallied 29 tackles with 4.5 tackles for loss and 10 pass breakups, the fourth-highest total in the ACC. He recovered a fumble in the season opener against No. 5 LSU and forced a fumble in the ACC Championship Game victory over No. 16 Louisville.

Thomas is the 11th Seminole drafted by the Jets, with four coming since 2021: Hamsah Nasirildeen in 2021, Jermaine Johnson II in 2022, Jordan Travis in 2024 and Thomas in 2025.

Farmer was a two-time All-ACC selection after recording 80 tackles over four seasons, with 21.0 tackles for loss and 11.0 sacks. The Port St. Joe native added a pair of pass breakups and one forced fumble.

Farmer ended his FSU career with a career-high 1.5 sacks against Florida in 2024, part of an All-ACC honorable mention season. Farmer started all 12 games as a redshirt junior, totaling 32 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss and a team-high 4.0 sacks.

In 2023, Farmer earned second-team All-ACC honors with 32 tackles, 7.0 for loss and 5.0 sacks. Farmer was a freshman All-American in 2022 with 15 tackles and 6.0 tackles for loss, the most in the conference that year among freshmen.

New England has selected 10 Seminoles all-time, including tight end Jaheim Bell in 2024. Farmer is the Patriots’ highest-drafted Seminole since offensive lineman Tre’ Jackson was selected with the 111th pick in the 2015 draft.
