American Athletic Conference Announces Outdoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, April 13

Men’s Track Athlete of the Week

Devontie Archer, Jr., South Florida

Archer ran the fastest time in The American in the 400-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 50.65 seconds.  The time puts him in the Top 15 in the nation, currently slotted 14th.

Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

Vincent Ugwoke, Sr., South Florida

Ugwoke threw a Top 10 mark in the discus with a distance of 62.72 meters.  His marks ranks him 6th in the NCAA this season and puts him to the top of The American leaderboard.

Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

Nya Browne, So., Temple

Browne broke a 37-year-old program record in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 13.42 seconds at the South Florida Invitational. The time vaulted her into the Top 50 in the nation, ranking 48th overall.

Women’s Field Athletes of the Week

Mia Lien, R-Fr., UTSA

Lien had an impressive weekend at Texas A&M’s 44 Farms Team Invitational, earning 5,741 points in the heptathlon – the third most points in the nation. She also set a school record in high jump at 1.83 meters – the 6th highest mark in the nation, while jumping 6.30 meters in long jump – the 21st best mark in the nation.
