MTEN | Men’s Tennis Jumps Four Spots to No. 63

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Florida Atlantic men’s tennis team jumped four spots in the latest ITA poll, moving to No. 63 as announced by the ITA on Tuesday.
While the young Owls have gained tremendous playing experience this season, they have seen the return of graduate student Jiri Jenicek in recent weeks and continue to rely upon senior captain John Bernard, who also climbed 17 spots in this week’s ranking to No. 100.
Freshman Segundo Goity Zapico was the first Owl to surpass the double-digit plateau and has posted a 12-7 dual match record. Sophomores Mark Havlicek and Simon Myslivec are not far behind with 9-8 and 10-3 records respectively.In doubles play, the duo of Myslivec and freshman Marek Pazdera are also in the national spotlight with a No. 89 ranking after building a 6-3 record. Playing with three different partners, Pazdera is 16-7 on the year in doubles action.
