North Texas Heads to Semifinals with 77-59 Win Over Tulsa at 2025 American Men’s Basketball Championship

FORT WORTH, Texas — No. 2 North Texas defeated No. 10 Tulsa, 77-59, in the quarterfinals of the 2025 American Men’s Basketball Championship Friday evening, March 14 at Dickies arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

With the win, the Mean Green (24-7) will face the winner of No. 6 East Carolina vs. No. 3 UAB in the semifinals on Saturday, March 15, at 5 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT on ESPN2 and ESPN+.

The Golden Hurricane (13-20) had a 13-0 run over 5:20, giving North Texas a 5:43 scoring drought to start the first half.

The Mean Green held Tulsa to 1-of-9 shooting to begin the second half, including 0-for-5 from behind the arc. North Texas stormed past the Golden Hurricane in the second stanza, using a 23-3 run to go from down three at 40-37 to up 17 at 60-43.

Atin Wright led all scorers with 24 points for North Texas. Jasper Floyd (11 points), Latrel Jossell (10) and American Sixth Man of the Year Brenen Lorient (10) also reached double-figure scoring.

Keatson Willis led Tulsa with 20 points.
