American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 9.

Player of the Week

Emma Jackson, Jr., OF, East Carolina

Jackson slashed .500/1.063/0.609 across 16 at bats as the Pirates won five games, including a series sweep of UTSA.  She hit a grand slam on Friday, before following up with a three-run home run on Saturday.  In Wednesday’s win over Michigan, she hit the go-ahead home run over Michigan.

Pitcher of the Week

Autumn Courtney, Jr., Florida Atlantic

Courtney went 3-0 on the week including two wins against Wichita State. She held a 1.68 ERA across 16.2 innings pitched.  Courtney struck out 18 batters in her three appearances.

Honorable Mention

Aubrey Yarnall, R-Fr., P, Charlotte

Yarnell earned a win and a save in relief effort for the 49ers to help Charlotte clinch the conference opening series against North Texas.

Zoe Adebayo, Sr., 1B/C, Memphis

Adebayo finished with a hit in every game for the week, helping Memphis pick up a pair of road wins against Central Arkansas and Tulsa.

Payton Dixon, R-Jr., P, South Florida

Dixon held a 0.32 ERA across 21.2 inning pitched for the Bulls, picking up a pair of wins against UAB.

Maura Moore, Sr., P Tulsa

Moore struck out 11 batters across 12.0 inning to earn a pair of wins against Memphis and earn the series win.

Celeste Wood, Sr., 1B/RF, Tulsa

Wood finished with a hit in every game of the series against Memphis, scoring five runs and driving in four more in the two wins against the Tigers.
