American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the penultimate week of the regular season.

PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Dain Dainja, R-Sr., F, Memphis

Dainja led the Tigers to two wins, including a win at second-place UAB, by averaging 20.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and 2.0 assists. In a win over Rice on Wednesday, February 26, he dropped 25 points and 10 rebounds before producing 16 points, 17 rebounds, two blocks and two assists in Birmingham on Sunday, March 2.

FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK

Kam Williams, G/F, Tulane

Williams helped lead the Green Wave to a pair of wins with 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per contest. He recorded 14 points, four rebounds and four assists in a win over Charlotte on Wednesday before adding 10 points and three rebounds in a road win over Tulsa on Saturday, March 1.

HONORABLE MENTION

RJ Felton, Sr., G, East Carolina

Felton scored 27 points, including four 3-pointers, as the Pirates defeated in-state rival Charlotte on Sunday.

Brenen Lorient, Jr., F, North Texas

Lorient recorded 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals as the Mean Green went on the road and defeated Florida Atlantic on Thursday, February 27.

Zion Stanford, So., G, Temple

Stanford recorded 25 points, eight rebounds and made the game-winning buzzer-beating shot from the baseline to defeat South Florida on Wednesday.

Marcus Millender, So., G, UTSA

Millender recorded 25 points, seven assists and four rebounds as the Roadrunners defeated Rice on Sunday.

Gregg Glenn III, Jr., F, Tulane

Glenn averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Green Wave defeated Charlotte and Tulsa.
