“Being named as a CRCA Athlete to Watch is an incredible honor and I am truly grateful for the recognition,” said Hickey. “In preparing for the upcoming season, I’ve been refining my technique, maintaining fitness, and balancing training with recovery. My focus for the new season is to grow as a leader, support my teammates, and push myself to reach new levels of performance. None of this is possible without the support and guidance of my coaches and teammates, who challenge and inspire me daily.”

Sharks Women’s Rowing Interim Head Coach Nick Iliadis took over the program in September 2024 and leads the NSU team into its 2025 competition schedule. “Emma is one of the most coachable athletes I’ve had the priviledge to work with, she’s incredibly driven each and every practice with one goal in mind – to make the boat move faster,” stated Iliadis. “As a captain, Emma has shown incredible leadership and has been making incredible strides as a rower. She’s embraced the new training program and takes every available step to improve during practice and on her own time. I’m very excited to see her demonstrate the fruits of her hard work during this upcoming racing season.”
