American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, February 23.

Player of the Week

Morgan Johnson, Gr., INF, East Carolina

Johnson had an impressive week at the plate, slashing .750/1.333/.750 across three games.  She drove in six runs and scored five additional times.  She had a hit, RBI and run scored in all three games, and hit a home run in two of the three games.

Pitcher of the Week

Kaylie Olivarez, Fr., P, UTSA

Olivarez was a key component for the Roadrunners this week, tossing 5.0 innings of relief. She struck out eight batters across five innings, while not allowing a run, earning a 2-0 record for the week.

Honorable Mention

Teagan Ritchie, So., INF, Charlotte

Ritchie slashed .471/1.176/0.591 across 17 at-bats. She drove in seven runs and scored eight times.

Jesiana Mora, Jr., 3B, Florida Atlantic

Mora helped lead the Owls to six wins. She scored in all six games, and scored multiple times in three of them.

Skylar Savage, Sr., P, North Texas

Saved record two wins for the Mean Green, fanning nine batters and tossing a complete-game shutout at UT Arlington on Sunday.

Cierra Simon, Sr., INF, North Texas

Simon led the Mean Green with a 1.738 OPS to help guide the Mean Green to four wins on the week.

Josie Foreman, Gr., C, South Florida

Foreman drove in 11 runs on the week, including a program-high seven runs in the win over Troy.
