Florida defeated Texas A&M 74-52 on Thursday night. The Gators road win was a full team effort as nine players posted five or more points in the 22-point victory.
COLLEGE STATION, Tex.- Florida secured win No. 14 of the season at Texas A&M, defeating the Aggies 74-52. The road win was also UF’s sixth SEC victory to put them at 6-8 in conference play. Florida’s 74 points were spread across nine players and Liv McGill<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/liv-mcgill/16880> led all in scoring with 18 points.
Defensively, Laila Reynolds<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/laila-reynolds/16860> led in rebounding for the first time in her sophomore season. Reynolds secured nine of UF’s 34 rebounds and was closely followed by Ra Shaya Kyle<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/ra-shaya-kyle/16858> with eight. Florida also held the Aggies to their lowest scoring game of the season with 52 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
IN THE FIRST:
* UF shot 43.8 percent from the field (7-16), posting 17 points
* Eight points were tallied inside the paint and seven were posted off Texas A&M turnovers
* McGill led in scoring with six points-going 2-4 from the field and 2-2 from the free throw line
* Kyle secured 50 percent of UF’s rebounds with six of the Gators 12
* The Gators snagged four steals and forced five turnovers on the Aggies
* Florida held a four-point lead at the end of the first (17-13)
IN THE SECOND:
* The Gators tallied 21 points and shot 60 percent from the field (9-15)
* Seven Gators posted two or more points to contribute to UF’s 21
* Kenza Salgues<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/kenza-salgues/16861> shot 100 percent from the three to lead UF in scoring with six points
* 10 of Florida’s points were credited to the bench and nine came from TAMU turnovers

NEXT UP:
The Gators will be back in the O’Dome Sunday afternoon for a matchup against No. 15 Tennessee. Florida is slated to tip off against the Lady Vols at 1 p.m. and the game will be aired on SECN.
Tennessee will travel to Gainesville after defeating No. 18 Alabama 88-80 on Thursday evening. The Vols were led by Jewel Spear on offense, posting 20 points.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, UT has been led in scoring by Talaysia Cooper with 17 points per game and a combined 424. Defensively, the Lady Vols are led on the boards by Zee Spearman, averaging 6.0 rebounds a game. Cooper is not far behind with 5.9 rebounds per game, reflecting her versatility on both ends of the floor.
