American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Release – February 14

BULLS WIN STREAK INCREASES TO six

South Florida has increased their winning streak to six games following their triple overtime win on Wednesday against Rice. The Bulls haven’t lost since Jan. 14 when UAB beat South Florida on a buzzer beater. Since that game, the Bulls have moved into second place in the conference and have handed current first place UTSA their only loss of the season.

SEASON-BY-SEASON INCREASE

Since taking over the UTSA program in 2021, head coach Karen Aston has transformed the UTSA program. Aston has led the Roadrunners to an increase in wins each season – 7 (2021-22), 13 (2022-23), 18 (2023-24), 20 (2024-25).  Their 20 wins this season is the 4th most in a season in program history, and just four shy of the record of 24 set by the 2008-09 squad.

PIRATES SWEEP PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

East Carolina took home Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week this week, following two important wins last week.  Amiya Joyner averaged 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds, while Devin Hagemann averaged 10 points and 6.5 assists to lead the Pirates past UAB and Tulsa to move up the standings in The American.

BULLS WIN TRIPLE OVERTIME THRILLER

The Rice Owls and South Florida Bulls competed in a triple overtime game on Wednesday with the Bulls coming out on top 82-77.  It marks the first triple-overtime game that South Florida head coach Jose Fernandez has been apart of in his 25 seasons with the Bulls.
