The Gators will swim against the Seminoles on Friday at the FAST facility in Ocala, Florida, while hosting diving Friday and Saturday.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 5/4 ranked Florida men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams conclude 2024-25 dual-meet action with their annual meeting against in-state rivals No. 21/25 Florida State.
The swimming portion will be held on Friday at the Florida Aquatics Swimming & Training (FAST) Facility in Ocala, Florida. Gator diving will remain at home and host the Seminoles inside the O’Connell Center Natatorium on Friday and Saturday. 1-meter and 3-meter springboard events will take place on Friday before climbing the tower on Saturday to conclude diving competition on platform.

All-Time Series against Florida State
Friday marks the 87th meeting between the men’s programs and the 52nd meeting between the women’s programs. Florida leads both all-time series records, as the Gators owning a 62-23-1 record on the men’s side and a 48-3 record on the women’s.
Gators Last Time Out
The Gators earned a road sweep against Texas A&M on Friday, Jan. 17. The men defeated the Aggies 193-107, while the women came away with a 179-120 victory.
The Gators won 25 events and recorded 55 top-three finishes, while earning 10 event sweeps. Michaela Mattes and Camyla Monroy led the way on the women’s side with 18 points after earning wins in their two individual events. On the men’s side, Josh Liendo and Julian Smith scored 18 individual points and were members of UF’s winning 200 medley relay team, while Liendo also swam the second leg of the winning 400 free relay team.
Additionally, Florida recorded six NCAA B-Cut times in the sweep. Liendo earned two (50 free, 100 fly), while Anita Bottazzo (100 breast), Jonny Marshall (100 back), Olivia Peoples (100 fly) and Smith (100 breast) each tallied one.
Gator Splashes
For their performances against the Aggies, Josh Liendo was named SEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week, while Camyla Monroy and Anita Bottazzo earned weekly honors for the women on Jan. 21. Monroy received SEC Diver of the Week and Bottazzo captured SEC Freshman of the Week.
Throughout the season, senior Julian Smith and freshman Anita Bottazzo have anchored themselves as the fastest 100 breaststrokers in the nation, while the men’s 200 medley relay and the women’s 800 free relay own the top time in Division I swimming.
Several Gators join the two breaststroke Gators in SEC rankings including sophomore standout Bella Sims, who owns the fastest 100 back, 200 back and 400 IM time in the league. Junior Aleksas Savickas holds the fastest 200 breast for the men’s, while three Florida relays have also taken the top spot (men’s 200 medley relay, women’s 400 medley relay and 800 free relay).
Thinking ahead to post season, the men have recorded a combined 67 NCAA A-Cut and B-Cut times (8 A, 59 B). Besides the five relay teams, Julian Smith, Josh Liendo and Jonny Marshall have swam individual A-Cuts, while 23 additional Gators have contributed to Florida’s B-Cut times.
The women have recorded 10 NCAA A-cut times and 71 NCAA B-Cut times, with Bella Sims having four of the Gators A-Cut times. Emma Weyant and Anita Bottazzo each have one A-Cut time as well, while Florida’s 200 & 400 medley relay and 400 & 800 free relays join the A list. Additionally, 21 Gators contribute to at least one NCAA B-Cut time.
About the Seminoles
Florida State is led by coach Neal Studd and first-year diving coach Wes Mattice. The men sit No. 21 in the newest CSCAA rankings and have recorded dual meet wins over Villanova and Tampa. Their four dual-meet losses have come from SEC opponents Georgia, LSU and Alabama as well as ACC contender Georgia Tech.
Florida State’s men have recorded three NCAA A-Cut times and 47 NCAA B-cut times. Their 200 & 400 medley relays and 400 free relay have earned A-cut times, while Logan Robinson, Max Wilson, Gustav Olsson and Mathias Christensen lead the way individual for the men with four individual NCAA B-cut times a piece.
The women rank No. 25 and are undefeated in ACC competition with wins over Miami and Georgia Tech. The Seminoles have also captured dual-meet wins over Tampa, Villanova, North Florida and West Florida, while falling to SEC opponents Georgia, LSU and Alabama.
Florida State’s 200 medley relay team has recorded an NCAA A-Cut time and 13 Seminoles contribute to their 23 NCAA B-Cut times. Madeline Huggins leads the way for the women with four individual B-Cut times.
