BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Owls close out their January home slate this week, beginning with a midweek contest on Wednesday, Jan. 22 against the Charlotte 49ers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena and on ESPN+.

  • Charlotte heads into Wednesday’s matchup at 5-12 overall and 0-6 in AAC play.
  • As a team, the 49ers lead the AAC in bench points per game (23.3), in addition to ranking second in free throw attempts per game (18.9) and free throws made per game (12.8), and fifth in steals per game (8.6).
  • The 49ers are led offensively by Hayleigh Breland, averaging 11.5 points per game. Breland is averaging 35.1 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from beyond the arc.
  • Breland also paces Charlotte on the glass, collecting a team-leading 5.4 rebounds per game.
  • Kay Kay Green is the 49ers assists and steals leader, dishing out 2.9 assists per game and collecting 1.5 steals per game for Charlotte.
  • Jayla Kelly leads the 49ers in blocks, tallying 1.2 blocks per contest this season, ranking fourth in the AAC.

SERIES HISTORY

  • Charlotte leads the all-time series between the Owls and the 49ers, 11-5. However, the series remains tied 3-3 for contests played in Boca Raton. Florida Atlantic won the last two meetings against the 49ers, sweeping the season series last year with a 66-55 win on Feb. 7, 2024, in Charlotte and a 56-47 win on March 3, 2024, in Boca Raton.

LAST TIME OUT: AT SOUTH FLORIDA

  • The Owls fell in an 85-59 road battle at South Florida this past Saturday.
  • Mya Perry and Ta’Ziah Jenks led the way for the Owls with 14 points and 12 points, respectively.
  • Perry shot 56 percent (5-of-9) from the field, 67 percent (2-of-3) from beyond the arc, and went 2-of-3 at the line, while also adding four boards, a team-high two steals, and a pair of assists.
  • Jenks went 44 percent (4-of-9) from the field, 60 percent (3-of-5) from 3-point range, and knocked down a free throw. She also added five rebounds, a block, and a steal.
  • Jada Moore pulled down a team-high six rebounds, in addition to tying Stefanie Ingram for a team-leading five assists.
  • The Owls held the advantage from beyond the arc, outshooting the Bulls 52.6 percent (10-of-19) to 50 percent (9-of-18).

UP NEXT

  • The Owls will close out their two-game homestand on Saturday, Jan. 25, hosting the North Texas Mean Green for a 2 p.m. tip at Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.
