American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, January 12.

Player of the Week

Jordyn Jenkins, R-Sr., F, UTSA

Jenkins had another impressive week, averaging 21 points in a pair of wins over Rice and Wichita State. The redshirt-senior shot at a 45.9 percent clip, while averaging 8.5 rebounds.  In the win over Rice, she scored 21 points and recorded 14 rebounds.

Freshman of the Week

Devin Hagemann, Fr., G, East Carolina

Hagemann was instrumental in East Carolina’s win over Tulane, scoring 21 points on 47 percent shooting. It marked her first 20-point game of her career. She added three assists.

Honorable Mention

Tommisha Lampkin, Sr., F, North Texas

Lampkin tied a career-high with 29 points in the Mean Green’s win over South Florida on Saturday, shooting 11-for-12 from the field.

Sammie Puisis, Gr., G, South Florida

Puisis scored 16 points in a pair of road games against Wichita State and North Texas. She shot 50 percent from behind on the arc on the week.

Kaylah Turner, So., G, Temple

Turner led the Owls to wins over Florida Atlantic and Tulsa, averaging 20 points. She scored a career-high 25 points in the win over Florida Atlantic.

Sherese Pittman, Sr., F, Tulane

Pittman averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds in games against North Texas and East Carolina. In the win over North Texas, she scored 20 points and came down with nine boards.

Hadley Periman, Jr., G/F, Tulsa

Periman put on a display in the win over Charlotte, scoring 16 points, dishing out eight assists and recording 15 rebounds.
