MTEN: Miami Earns 4-1 Win Over Troy to Open 2025

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami men’s tennis team opened the season with a 4-1 win over the Troy Trojans on Monday afternoon, earning Alex Santos his first win as head coach.

Senior Martin Katz and junior Antonio Prat took down Nicolas Simkin and Noah Martens, 6-2, on court one, followed by a 6-4 win from junior Nacho Serra Sanchez and sophomore Leonardo Dal Boni over Yeray Andres Pastor and Thiago Drozdowski.

With only five eligible players taking the court in singles, the Hurricanes matched up against the Trojans tied at one-all.

Serra Sanchez dominated on court three with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Drozdowski to take the 2-1 lead, while newcomer Dal Boni extended Miami’s lead with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Henrique de Brito at the No. 4 spot. Prat clinched the match on court two after taking down Martens, 6-3, 6-4.

The Hurricanes will return tonight to host Buffalo at 6 p.m. at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.
