The Florida Department of Education released the Federal Graduation Rates for the 2023/24 school year and the overall results for Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) continue to increase. The District’s Federal Graduation Rate rose to 89% in 2024, up from 88.7% in 2023.
The Federal Graduation Rate includes traditional high schools, centers and charter schools. The graduation rate for BCPS traditional high schools only (excluding centers and charter schools) increased to 96.2%, up from 95.5% the previous school year (2023).
There are some notable highlights. Thirty-four of 36 traditional District high schools achieved a graduation rate of 90% or higher, and 24 of these schools reached a graduation rate at or above 95% (this is an increase from 22 schools in 2023).
Seven District high schools earned 100% graduation rates: Atlantic Technical High School, Broward Virtual School, College Academy at Broward College, Lauderhill 6-12, McFatter Technical College, Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy and Pompano Beach High School. College Academy at Broward College achieved a graduation rate of 100% for the thirteenth consecutive year.
Five District high schools increased graduation rates by three or more percentage points in 2023/24 compared to 2022/23: Boyd Anderson High School (5.1 percentage points), Charles Flanagan High School (3.7 percentage points), Coral Springs High School (3 percentage points), Hollywood Hills High School (3 percentage points) and South Plantation High School (3.1 percentage points).
“Ensuring our students complete their high school education with the knowledge, tools and academic foundation to be successful in their post-secondary pursuits is critical,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Howard Hepburn. “Our School Board members and I are proud of our schools – our teachers, administrators and staff – for maintaining their focus on our students’ needs and helping our schools continue to raise graduation rates. The notable increases at many of our high schools are to be commended and celebrated.”
