BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball closes out its two-game homestand on Saturday, hosting the UAB Blazers for a 2 p.m. tip inside Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena.

FLORIDA ATLANTIC: AT A GLANCE

  • Florida Atlantic enters Saturday’s matchup at 9-7 overall and 1-2 in AAC play this season. The Owls will look to bounce back after falling in a tightly contested overtime defeat vs. Temple, 75-69.
  • As a team, The Owls lead the AAC in fouls per game (13.5) and rebounds per game (42.6), and rank second in defensive rebounds per game (28.2), third in field goal percentage defense (38.1) and offensive rebounds per game (14.4), fourth in scoring defense (62.7) and 3-point percentage defense (29.1), and fifth in rebounding margin (2.4) and 3-point attempts per game (19.3).
  • The Owls offense is led by Mya Perry, who ranks fourth in the AAC in points scored and sixth in points per game, averaging 15.7 points per game this season. Jada Moore ranks second on the Owls this season, tallying 12.3 points per game. She had a career day in the Owls last contest vs. Temple, scoring a career-high 24 points.
  • Stefanie Ingram ranks second in the AAC in assists and third in assists per game, dishing out a team-leading 5.0 assists per game.
  • Ta’Ziah Jenks leads the Owls on the boards, pulling down a team-leading 6.4 rebounds per game. Jenks also posted a tremendous performance against Temple, collecting a career-best 18 boards and helping lead the Owls to a 64-rebound performance, tying for third all-time in program history.
  • Jenks also leads the Owls in steals, recording 1.6 steals per game, and Alana Rouser leads the team in blocked shots, tallying 0.8 blocks per game.

SCOUTING UAB

  • UAB enters Saturday’s game at 10-6 overall and 1-3 in league play so far this season. The Blazers opened conference play with three straight losses but are just coming off their first AAC win of the season after earning a 73-56 win over Memphis.
  • The UAB Blazers lead the AAC in 3-point shooting, ranking first in 3-pointers per game (9.1) and 3-point attempts per game (26.1), as well as field goal percentage (.443), assists per game (15.9), assist/turnover ratio (1.0), and blocks per game (4.8). The Blazers also rank second in 3-point percentage (.349) and fouls per game (15.4), third in scoring offense (71.1), fourth in bench points per game (19.6), defensive rebounds per game (27.9), scoring margin (5.3), and turnovers per game (15.9), and fifth in free throw percentage (.682) and winning percentage (.625).
  • The Blazers are led by three double-figure scorers, led by Maddie Walsh, averaging 13.6 points per game. Journey Armstead and Sara Bershers round out UAB’s scoring leaders, recording 10.7 and 10.1 points per game.
  • Armstead leads the Blazers in assists and steals, recording 5.0 assists per game and 1.4 steals per game.
  • Defensively, UAB is led on the boards by Jade Weathersby, collecting 8.3 rebounds per game. Walsh leads the Blazers in blocks, recording 1.2 blocks per contest.

SERIES HISTORY

  • UAB holds the all-time series lead between the Blazers and the Owls, 14-4. In Boca Raton, the Blazers lead 6-2 all-time. The Owls will look to snap a two-game skid against the Blazers on Saturday. The Blazers won the last meeting between the two programs 83-72 on Jan. 31, 2024. Florida Atlantic’s last win came on Feb. 2, 2023, when the Owls won an 80-75 battle in Boca Raton.

LAST TIME OUT: VS. TEMPLE

  • The Owls competed in one of their most physical battles of the season, falling just short in overtime against the Temple Owls, 75-69.
  • Florida Atlantic tallied 64 rebounds as a team, posting the team’s third most single-game rebounds in program history and the most since Dec. 18, 2020.
  • Jada Moore had a phenomenal outing, scoring a career-high 24 points, shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) from the field and 50 percent (1-of-2) from 3-point range. She also added three assists, two boards, and a steal.
  • Ta’Ziah Jenks also had a tremendous night, posting her second double-double of the season with a career-high 18 rebounds and 15 points, with four steals and an assist.
  • Mya Perry and Stefanie Ingram rounded out the Owls double-figure scorers, recording 15 points and 10 points, respectively. Ingram also dished out a team-leading six assists.
  • Lovisa Asbrink Hose also notched a new career-high, recording 13 rebounds in the contest.
  • Florida Atlantic outscored Temple 20-17 in the second and 20-12 in the fourth.
  • Besides the Owls’ incredible rebounding performance, Florida Atlantic also held advantages off points in the paint, 38-22, and second-chance points, 16-9.

UP NEXT

  • The Owls will head back on the road next week, beginning with a trip to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 15, against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET inside the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
