American Athletic Conference Announces Women’s Basketball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly women’s basketball awards for the week ending Sunday, January 5.

Player of the Week

Jordyn Jenkins, R-Sr., F, UTSA

Jenkins led the Roadrunners to a 2-0 week with wins over UAB and Tulsa. She averaged 23 points and seven rebounds in the wins, including a weekend-high 30 points in the win over Tulsa. With a record of 12-2 on the season, UTSA has recorded the best start in program history. It is the first time since 2009-10 that the Roadrunners have started 3-0 in conference.

Freshman of the Week

Lovisa Asbrink Hose, Fr., C, Florida Atlantic

Asbrink Hose had the best game of the season, scoring seven points and recording seven rebounds to help the Owls earn a road win over East Carolina. Her point and rebound totals are both career-highs.

Honorable Mention

Mya Perry, Jr., G, Florida Atlantic

Perry scored a career-high 29 points on 50 percent shooting to lead the Owls past East Carolina.

Ereauna Hardaway, Jr., G, North Texas

Hardaway hit the game-winning layup to lift North Texas past Memphis. She averaged 15.5 points and five assists in wins over Memphis and Tulsa.

Malia Fisher, Sr., F, Rice

Fisher scored held a stat line of 21 points, 8 rebounds and four assists in the Owls road win at Tulane.

Sammie Puisis, Gr., G, South Florida

Puisis scored the game-tying and game-winning points for the Bulls against Charlotte. She averaged 20 points in two wins on the week.

Amira Mabry, Jr., F, Tulane

Mabry averaged 19.5 points and 9 rebounds on 68 percent shooting in games against Rice and Charlotte.
