Josh Allen, Derek Stingley Jr. & Marvin Mims Jr. Named Week 15 AFC Players of the Week

NEW YORK — Dec. 18, 2024 — Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. and Denver Broncos wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for Week 15 (December 12, 15-16).

OFFENSE: QB JOSH ALLEN, BUFFALO BILLS

  • Allen completed 23 of 34 pass attempts (67.6 percent) for 362 yards and two touchdowns with a 122.4 rating in Buffalo’s 48-42 win at Detroit. He also rushed for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Allen became the second player ever with at least 350 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, two touchdown passes and two rushing touchdowns in a game, joining Russell Wilson (Sept. 22, 2019, with Seattle).
  • This is the 15th-career Offensive Player of the Week award and third this season for Allen. His three seasons with three-or-more Offensive Player of the Week awards are for fourth-most by a quarterback in NFL history, trailing only Tom Brady (five such seasons), Drew Brees (four) and Pro Football Hall of Famer Peyton Manning (four).

  • Allen becomes the ninth quarterback ever to win an Offensive Player of the Week award 15-or-more times. His 15 Player of the Week awards are the most among any player since entering the NFL in 2018.

DEFENSE: CB DEREK STINGLEY JR., HOUSTON TEXANS

  • Stingley Jr. recorded five tackles, two tackles for loss and two interceptions in the Texans’ 20-12 win over the Dolphins. He was the only player with multiple interceptions in Week 15.
  • This is Stingley Jr.’s second-career Defensive Player of the Week award, also earning the award in Week 13, 2023. He becomes the first Texans defensive back to win multiple Defensive Player of the Week awards.
  • Stingley Jr. is the third former LSU defensive back to win multiple Defensive Player of the Week awards, joining Patrick Peterson (three-time winner) and Tre’Davious White (two).

SPECIAL TEAMS: WR MARVIN MIMS JR., DENVER BRONCOS

  • Mims Jr. recorded 97 punt-return yards in the Broncos’ 31-13 win over the Colts, including a 61-yard return in the fourth quarter that set up the go-ahead touchdown. His 97 punt-return yards were the most in Week 15 and second-most in a game this season.
  • This is the second-career Special Teams Player of the Week award for Mims Jr., who also earned the award in Week 10, 2023. He becomes the fifth Broncos non-kicker/punter to win award multiple times, joining Vaughn Hebron (two-time winner), Trindon Holliday (two), Glyn Milburn (two) and Eddie Royal (two).
  • Mims Jr. joins Tress Way (five-time winner) as the only former Oklahoma players to win multiple Special Teams Player of the Week awards.
