Tampa, Fla. – Dec. 17, 2024 – Sophomore guard Vittoria Blasigh scored 10 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter as South Florida women’s Basketball (6-6) rolled to a 71-36 victory against Northwestern St. (3-7) in the Yuengling Center on Tuesday night.
Blasigh was joined by red-shirt senior guard Romi Levy (15 points) and graduate guard Sammie Puisis (12 points) to round out the Bulls in double-figure points. Tonight marked the second straight game that USF has had three Bulls finish in double-digit points. Graduate guard Mama Dembele stashed a season-best nine steals and had a hand on six assists, her second straight game of five or more assists.
The visiting Demons were paced by Vernell Atamah who finished the night with 10 points.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
The Bulls opened the contest on a commanding 28-7 run, which ran through the six-minute mark of the second frame. South Florida went on to win the contest by 35 points, its largest margin of victory this season.
NOTABLE NUMBERS
- The Bulls are now 64-5 in nonconference home games since the 2014-15 season.
- For the second-straight contest, the Bulls had three performers finish with double-figure points.
- USF had a season-high 23 team steals, which is tied for the fifth-most team steals in a single game in program history.
- The Bull’s 23 steals is the first time the team has had 20+ steals since 2012 vs. UNC Asheville (24).
- Freshman forward Yana Karamfilova (2 points) scored her first collegiate points.
- Dembele (eight points) grabbed a season-high nine steals (one shy of a career-high), which marked her second straight game of 5 or more steals. Dembele’s nine steals is tied for the third most in a single game in program history.
- Junior guard Janette Aarnio collared a season-best 7 points (one point shy of career-high).
- Blasigh (18-points) has collected double-digit points in six games so far this season.
- South Florida led Northwestern St. in points off of turnovers (33-11), paint points (40-16), second chance points (21-6), fast break points (12-4), and bench points (28-15).
