Olemomoi Opens Indoor Season with Historic Performance
The Honda Sport Award for Cross Country finalist finished second and posted the third-best indoor 5000m time in NCAA history.

BOSTON – Hilda Olemomoi opened the 2024-25 Indoor Track and Field season with a historic performance, becoming the third woman in NCAA History to break the 15-minute threshold in the indoor 5000m, at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University. She finished the race with a time of 14:52.84.

Olemomoi and Alabama’s Doris Lemngole finished within a half-stride of one another, with Lemngole’s 14:52.57 just ahead of Olemomoi. Lemngole’s mark set the collegiate record in the event.

The two women become the second and third female collegians to ever eclipse the 15-minute mark, joining Florida’s own Parker Valby in the elite club. Olemomoi’s mark is now the No. 2 performance in Florida’s program history, behind Valby’s 14:52.79 mark set last season.
