Miami-Dade County District 12 Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez and the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department dedicated the new expansion and renovation of the community center and other park improvements at North Trail Park, 780 NW 127 Avenue, in Miami.

“Parks are an essential element of a strong and healthy community,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “With this project, we are creating a safe and welcoming space where residents of the North Trail Park surrounding community can gather to make memories with friends, family and loved ones.”

The project consisted of the complete renovation and 3,000 square-foot expansion of the community center, to include the addition of a new main hall and multipurpose rooms with modern technology upgrades and a kitchenette with new appliances, as well as the installation of a new roof, doors, windows, flooring, plumbing, lighting and utility systems, and walkways. Additional park improvements included the construction of a new 880 square-foot service building to include restrooms, utility connections and related walkways, new signage, and bicycle parking.

“I’m very honored to have participated in the development of the improvements at North Trail Park as these updates will improve the lives of residents in District 12 and ensure that community members have a safe place to gather and continue to create memories within their neighborhood,” said Commissioner Juan Carlos Bermudez.

The Community Center expansion and park improvements significantly enhance the park’s amenities and accessibility, creating a vibrant, welcoming space for residents of all ages. The expanded community building offers a versatile environment for gatherings, educational workshops, and recreational programs, fostering meaningful social engagement.

These updates will also improve safety. Lighted courts for basketball and skateboarding allow for evening use and family-oriented and health-focused activities. Enhanced accessibility features, including updated walkways, designated stroller parking, and bicycle parking, promote convenience and safety, encouraging active transportation options and inclusive participation. Additionally, sustainable upgrades like energy-efficient lighting, plumbing fixtures, HVAC systems and improved landscaping contribute to an environmentally conscious space.

“We are excited to revitalize this park for it to serve as a beautiful space that brings the community together,” said Miami-Dade County Parks Director Maria Nardi. “This new community center and other  improvements are part of the implementation of the Parks and Open Space Master Plan, a community-inspired vision to build a healthier, more vibrant community, and enhance the quality of life for all, through parks and open spaces.”

North Trail Park spans nearly 14 acres and provides a broad range of recreational activities and community programs. Established to serve the growing needs of the Miami-Dade County community, the park is equipped with numerous facilities in addition to the new amenities, including skate ramps,  basketball courts, fitness zones, tennis courts, playground, a volleyball court, and unlit soccer fields, catering to diverse athletic and recreational interests. The park also offers a range of activities, including seasonal camps, after-school programs, youth sports leagues for basketball and soccer, and arts and culture classes to  enrich the community and provide structured activities for youth and families year-round.
