DePaul dominated Northern Illinois with a 98-52 victory at Wintrust Arena. The Blue Demons set the tone early, opening with a 51-15 halftime lead, fueled by a 30-9 scoring run midway through the first half. They maintained their intensity in the second half, never allowing NIU to get close .
Layden Blocker led DePaul with 21 points, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, while also grabbing eight rebounds. David Skogman was pivotal defensively, recording 11 rebounds, three assists, and three blocks. Quentin Jones led Northern Illinois with 16 points and six rebounds, while Dominic Gooden added 10 points, 8 of which came from the line .
Skogman said after the game “Our defensive focus made the difference, especially in the first half.”
DePaul now looks ahead to facing Valparaiso on November 29 as part of their non-conference schedule.
