WICHITA, Kan. – Host and No. 4 seed Wichita State swept No. 5 Tulsa (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) to advance to the semifinals of the 2024 American Volleyball Championship
The Shockers improve to 16-13 on the season while the Golden Hurricane move to 18-11 on the year.
Wichita State was led by Morgan Stout and Alyssa Gonzales, combining for 23 of the 37 kills by the Shockers. Stout finished with 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .312, while Gonzales hit at a clip of .357 with 11 kills. Izzi Strand paced the match with 28 assists.
Defensively, the Shockers were led by Katie Galligan who finished with 17 digs. Wichita State held the Golden Hurricane to a hitting percentage of .109, forcing 22 Tulsa attacking errors.
Tulsa’s Rachel Brown (8 kills) and Jolana Smidlova (8 kills) led the Golden Hurricane offensively, while American Libero of the Year led all players with 19 digs.
The Shockers will play No. 1 South Florida in the semifinals on Saturday, November 23 at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT on ESPN+
