WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 1 South Florida Bulls held off a comeback from No. 8 UAB to defeat the Blazers 3-1 (25-13, 25-23, 13-25, 25-22) and advance to the semifinals of the 2024 American Volleyball Championship at Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas.
The Bulls improve to 19-9 on the season while the Blazers move to 11-17 on the year.
Naiya Sawtelle led the Bulls with 15 kills, while Ally Cavanaugh added 10. American Setter of the Year paced the Bulls with 42 assists, while adding 10 digs for a double-double. The Bulls held the Blazers to hitting .100 in the match.
UAB was led by Jorda Crook, finishing with 12 kills in the match. The Blazers were a menace at the net, finishing with 14 blocks, led by Madison Page’s 10 blocks.
The Bulls await the winner of No. 5 Tulsa and No. 4 Wichita State in the semifinals on Saturday, November 23 at 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT on ESPN+
