Gators Head to Tallahassee for Instate Battle Versus Seminoles
The Gators will play Florida State Friday night at 7 p.m. in their first road contest of the 2024-25 season.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Gators are set to play cross-state rivals, Florida State on Friday evening in Tallahassee. The 7 p.m. tip will be inside The Donald L. Tucker Center, marking Florida’s first time back on the Seminoles court since 2022.

Friday’s game will mark the Gators first road trip of the season. Florida has been at home since opening the 2024-25 campaign on Nov. 4. The Seminoles’ have also been at home for majority of the season, securing four home victories versus North Florida (119-49), Florida A&M (93-54), Samford (101-68), and North Carolina Central (119-57). FSU’s lone loss was on the road at Illinois, falling by less than a 10-point margin (83-74).

THE SERIES:
Florida currently holds the all-time series over the Seminoles at 42-35.

GATORS x FSU HISTORY:
The Gators and Seminoles share a long history that dates back to 1975. The two Florida based teams have met a recorded 77 times with the Gators leading 42-35 in the all-time series. However, in the last 10 contests Florida State has been in control, going 8-2 over the Gators. Florida’s two victories in the last 10 meetings were both in Gainesville (Dec. 12, 2021, and Nov. 16, 2015). The Gator wins were only won by a 10-point margin or less proving the competitive nature of this yearly matchup.

Throughout the years Florida has held a series high 16-game win streak spanning from 1993-2003. Florida also holds a winning record at home against the Seminoles at 20-12. Florida’s last loss to FSU at home was the most recent matchup between the Gators and Seminoles, taking place on Nov. 17, 2023. The Gators only fell by four points, 79-75 making Friday’s match a chance to redeem themselves.
