IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 17.
Offensive Player of the Week
Maria Clara Andrade, Jr., OH, South Florida
Andrade led the Bulls to an outright American Regular Season Championship and the top seed in the conference tournament, averaging 6.33 points per set, while hitting .516 in wins over Tulane and UAB.
Defensive Player of the Week
Kai Bailey, So., MB, UTSA
Bailey finished with 1.63 blocks per set to help lead the Roadrunners past Tulsa and Wichita State in the final weekend of the season.
Setter of the Week
Annika Sokol, So., S, UTSA
Sokol averaged 7.50 assists per set while operating out of a 6-2 rotation. She finished with 60 total assists in a pair of wins.
Freshman of the Week
Savannah Skopal, Fr., S, Rice
Skopal led the Owls to a sweep over Memphis and finished with 11.88 assists per set for the week.
Honorable Mention
Jorda Crook, So., OH, UAB
Crook averaged 4.93 points per set and 1.00 blocks per set to help UAB clinch a spot in the conference tournament.
Carlia Northcross, Jr., MB, East Carolina
Northcross averaged 1.00 blocks per set while hitting .409 on the offensive end in a pair of wins for the Pirates.
Kaila Ru, Sr., MB, Florida Atlantic
Ru averaged 1.25 blocks per set to help lead the Owls to a win over Tulane and clinch a spot in the conference tournament.
Kamryn Scroggins, Jr., S, North Texas
Scroggins paced the Mean Green to a pair of must-win matches, averaging 6.2 assists per set as North Texas clinched a spot in the conference tournament.
Mia Sorensen, Jr., OPP, UTSA
Sorensen averaged 4.00 kills per set and 1.38 blocks per set in a pair of wins for the Roadrunners.
