UF WBK: Gators Basketball Welcomes Emilija Dakic to the 2025 Signing Class

Gators women’s basketball announce the signing of Australian guard, Emilija Dakic.

Gainesville, Fla. – Florida Women’s Basketball Head Coach Kelly Rae Finley<https://floridagators.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/kelly-rae-finley/1866> and her staff announced that Emilija “Mills” Dakic (Canberra, Australia) will join the Gators with four years of eligibility beginning with the 2025-2026 academic year.

“Emilija is an elite point guard who can score at all three levels with the ability to guard every position” Finley said. “She has great athleticism and will have a great impact on the game from both ends of the floor. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Emilija and her family to Gainesville and the Gator family.”

Dakic attends the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence (CoE) which is a highly respected international program. She is focused heavily on her education in addition to a high level of development.

Dakic is a U/18 FIBA Asia Cup 2024 Gold medalist and two-time Casey Cavalier Junior of the Year (2018, 2022). She has also received the Lions Club Citizenship Award, John Milledge Leadership Award Scholarship, and the 2024 Academic Excellence Award (Mathematical Applications & Sports Development).

Dakic currently trains with the Southside Flyers, an elite team that competes in the Women’s National Basketball League. She will also try out for the U19 Australian National Team this year in hopes of securing a place on the roster.

Dakic is the first signee in Finley’s 2025 recruiting class.
