11/4/2024 | Football BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic football will travel to Greenville, North Carolina where they will face fellow American Athletic Conference member East Carolina on Thursday, Nov. 7. The game is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. and will air on ESPN+. The Owls have faced East Carolina twice, with the Pirates holding the 2-0 all-time mark. It will be the second time FAU has traveled to ECU, first when the two competed in CUSA. Last season, FAU fell in Paradise by a score of 22-7. A pair of CJs are leading the Owls and finding themselves among the national leaders. On the defensive side of the ball, freshman CJ Heard leads the team with 62 total tackles. On the offensive side of the ball, CJ Campbell Jr. is the Owls’ leading rusher averaging 5.0 yards per carry (98-490). The redshirt sophomore transfer is second on the squad in receiving with 253 yards on 22 receptions for an 11.50 yards per catch average. He leads FAU with nine scores (8 rushing, 1 receiving). Heard, a true freshman safety for the Florida Atlantic Owls, has been a standout since he joined the squad in the summer of 2024. He began the year on the two-deep and quickly worked his way into a starting safety role. The driven Georgia native has been a national tackles leader in total tackles by a true freshman. Currently, he is No. 5 nationally in fumbles recovered (2) and No. 15 nationally (2 in AAC) in solo tackles per game (5.0).
