The Gators come away with a 3-1 win over the Rebels on Sunday.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 24 Florida volleyball team came away with a 3-1 win (25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 25-18) against Ole Miss on Sunday inside the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Sunday’s win extends the Gators win streak to five for a 7-3 conference record, while climbing to 16-5 overall.
Sophomore All-American Kennedy Martin led the way offensively with 22 kills, marking her 42nd consecutive match that she has finished with double-digit kills. Redshirt senior Isabel Martin joined her fellow Gator in double digits with 11 to mark her 11th match this season she has finished in double-digits offensively. Freshman Alec Rothe followed closely with nine kills of her own, while three other front row hitters contributed to Florida’s 57 total kills: Jaela Auguste (6), AC Fitzpatrick (5) and Amaya Thomas (2).
Setter Taylor Parks tallied 48 assists and 10 digs to earn her third double-double of her career. The freshman also had a career-high three blocks, two kills and two aces for 5.5 points.
As a team, Florida registered 7.0 team blocks with freshman Alec Rothe leading the charge with a one solo block and four block assists.
In the backcourt, Libero Elli McKissock posted 20 digs for the second-straight match, while also dropping a team-high three aces behind the service line. Junior Emily Canaan had a season-high 10 digs to be the third Gator to finish with double-digit digs.

How It Happened
Set 1
* The Gators traded the opening points, until an ace from Parks pull ahead by two. After tying the score at 10, Ole Miss recorded back-to-back errors, as Rothe and K. Martin followed with a block to give the Florida a 13-10 advantage. The Rebels responded with a three-point scoring run of their own to regain a 15-14 lead heading into the media timeout. Following the break, Florida quickly came back together after falling to a 15-17 deficit. Following the timeout, points from the Martin duo kept the Gators close, but Ole Miss block put the Rebels up 21-18. Heading into the closing moments of set one, Florida flipped a switch and tied it up at 21 thanks to a block from K. Martin and Roth and an ace from Parks. Out of an Ole Miss timeout, the Gators grabbed the next two-points to climb to a 23-21 lead and Fitzpatrick put one down to secure the 25-22 comeback win. Overall, there were 11 ties and five lead changes in the first set.

* After trailing 0-4 at the start of the second set, kills from both Isi and Kennedy Martin inched Florida back within two, but service errors allowed Ole Miss to extend their lead to 10-5. Martin got things rolling for the home team out of a Gator timeout with back-to-back kills, as Florida went on a 3-0 scoring run behind Parks serving. Ole Miss regained a 16-13 advantage, but an open net gave K. Martin room to put one down the line and send McKissock to the service line. The libero dropped an ace to climb back within one, but the Rebels went on to grab four of the five next points to pull ahead to 19-14. Out of a Florida timeout, the Gators attempted to make another comeback, but fell 19-25 in set two.

Set 3
* Action from both the middle blockers (Auguste and Rothe) and a kill from Isi Martin evened the score at nine to put Florida back on track after falling behind by three at the start of the third set. Three opponent errors and a solo block from Fitzpatrick carried the Gators into the media timeout with a 15-11 advantage. Following the break, kills from both Martins and Thomas forced Ole Miss to call a timeout after Florida gained a 18-13 lead. The Rebels responded with two points of their own, but a backrow attack from K. Martin put the Gators five away from a set-win after pulling ahead to a 20-15 advantage. Ole Miss called a timeout and tallied two-consecutive points to inch within three and force Florida to use their first timeout. A right-side attack from K. Martin sent the sophomore to the service line, where she recorded a kill from the backrow to make it set-point Florida. The Rebels continued to show fight, staying alive for two more points before recording a service error to give the Gators a 25-22 third-set win.

* Florida was the first to five after Fitzpatrick added another kill to her stat sheet, but two errors gave the Rebels a 6-5 lead. Points were exchanged back-and-forth, as a block from Parks and Thomas took Florida into the media timeout with a 15-13 lead. Out of the huddle, Florida continued to keep a steady lead, as K. Martin and Cannan both dropped aces to pull ahead to a 19-14 lead. From there, the Gators remained in control, as K. Martin tallied her 22nd kill of the night to secure the 25-18 fourth-set win. The sophomore had seven of Florida’s 14 kills in the final set.
