Tampa, Fla. – Nov. 2, 2024 – The 53rd season of South Florida Women’s Basketball will tip-off on Monday night, as the program opens the 2024-25 campaign at the Yuengling Center when it takes on Bethune-Cookman on Monday, Nov. 4. Tip-off is slated for 6 p.m. and the game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

SETTING THE STAGE

South Florida holds a record of 35-17 in season openers and has won 10 straight lid lifters.

THE SOUTH FLORIDA-BETHUNE-COOKMAN SERIES

South Florida holds a 10-2 advantage in the series with Bethune-Cookman and the pairings between the Bulls and Wildcats span back to the 1977-78 season. In the last clash, USF topped BCU, 88-39 (Nov. 15, 2018).

TOP RETURNERS

The Bulls return three of five starters from a year ago — redshirt senior guard Romi Levy, sophomore guard Vittoria Blasigh, and junior forward Carla Brito. Additional notable returners – graduate guard Sammie Puisis.

Head Coach Jose Fernandez enters his 25th season at the helm of the South Florida Women’s Basketball Program. Fernandez is one of 6 active head coaches who have been a head coach at a single DI institution for 25 seasons or longer. On Thursday, November 14, when South Florida hosts Vanderbilt, the anniversary season will be celebrated. That date marks the exact 25-year anniversary of Fernandez first stepping into his role as head coach at South Florida.
