10/31/2024 | Football BOCA RATON, Fla. – Week 8 of the 2024 NFL season is in the books with six former Florida Atlantic Owls seeing action. Here’s a rundown of how each performed during the eighth week (All gametimes listed below are Eastern): Active Owls (6) #66 Evan Anderson | DT | San Francisco 49ers – Now on the team’s official 53-man roster, Anderson has solidified his role as a rotational player for the defense. In San Francisco’s 30-24 Sunday night win over the Dallas Cowboys in primetime, he logged a tackle in 14 snaps, one that stopped the running back from gaining more than one yard. 49ers’ Record: 4-4 Next Game: Anderson and the 49ers will have the weekend off before regrouping on Sunday, Nov. 10 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the road. #91 Trey Hendrickson | DE | Cincinnati Bengals – Hendrickson tied his season-high with four tackles in the Bengals’ 37-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. His highlight of the day came from shutting down one of the most unstoppable plays in football, “the Brotherly Shove,” to prevent a one-yard touchdown. Bengals’ Record: 3-5 Next Game: vs. Las Vegas (and Bryant) – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX) #43 Matthew Hayball | P | New Orleans Saints – In a career-high 12 snaps, Hayball punted the ball nine times for a net total of 369 yards. He was able to pin five of them inside the 20-yard line as New Orleans fell to the Los Angeles Chargers by a score of 26-8. Saints’ Record: 2-6 Next Game: at Carolina – Sunday, 1 p.m. (CBS) #36 Greg Joseph | K | New York Giants – Playing on Monday night, Joseph contributed 12 of the Giants’ 18 points with four field goals. The kicks got longer as the game went on, first a 29-yarder, followed by 39 yards, 44 yards, and finally 48 yards. It was his third time in six games making at least three field goals, as the Giants were narrowly defeated by his former Owl teammate James Pierre and the Pittsburgh Steelers, 18-12. Giants’ Record: 2-6 Next Game: vs. Washington – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX) #42 James Pierre | CB | Pittsburgh Steelers – Pierre made his mark in 22 special teams snaps, registering two tackles on the Monday night showdown against a Giants team boasting FAU’s Devin Singletary and Joseph. The first came on a kick return with the next on a punt return after just two yards. The Steelers picked up the key win, 18-12. Next Game: Pierre and the Steelers will have a bye in Week 9 and return on Sunday, Nov. 10 in a road matchup against the Washington Commanders. #26 Devin Singletary | RB | New York Giants – “Motor” saw increased snaps, 28 in total, as he works his way back into the lineup following his return from an injury. He carried the ball twice for 11 yards and caught two receptions for 12 yards. Giants’ Record: 2-6 Next Game: vs. Washington – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX) Inactive (2) #0 Azeez Al-Shaair | LB | Houston Texans – Due to injury, Al-Shaair was absent for the second straight game in the Texans’ 23-20 win over their AFC South divisional rival Indianapolis Colts. Jets – Thursday, 8:15 p.m. (Prime Video) #84 Harrison Bryant | TE | Las Vegas Raiders – Bryant was inactive due to injury in the Raiders’ 27-20 loss to the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
