MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer (6-5-3, 2-3-1 AAC) saw its three-game win streak end with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Memphis (7-6-2, 4-1-1 AAC) on Saturday night.
After a scoreless first half, the Owls opened the scoring in the 64th minute. Zach Hassell hit the post, but the rebound was not cleared. Mamadou Diarra found Noah Kvifte just outside the six-yard box, and the Norwegian converted for his sixth goal of the season.
Memphis responded with the tying goal 10 minutes later and rode the wave of momentum to score the go-ahead goal and eventual game-winner in the 81st minute.
After play on Saturday, the Owls sit fifth in the AAC standings. The top six will earn their place in the postseason. Florida Atlantic could finish as high as second or as low as eighth, depending on what happens across the league in the final matchday.
What’s Next
Just one game remains in the regular season for the Owls to secure a conference tournament berth. The Owls will host Charlotte for senior night next Saturday at 7 p.m.
