TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 25, 2024 – South Florida men’s soccer (5-4-4, 3-3-0) welcomes Tulsa (2-8-3, 1-3-1) for Senior Night and Dan Holcomb Chair Dedication on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Corbett Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m., and the match will air live on ESPN+.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls are looking for their sixth home win of the season. The Golden Hurricane is searching for their first road victory since September 16th, 2023 (FAU, 2-0).
SOUTH FLORIDA-TULSA SERIES
Saturday night is the 18th all-time meeting between USF and Tulsa, and the pairing spans back to the 1999 season. The Bulls lead the series against the Golden Hurricanes (10-5-2). In their last clash, the Bulls picked up a 2-1 road win at Tulsa (Oct. 5, 2023).
LAST TIME OUT
South Florida fell to Hofstra, 3-1, on Tuesday night. In the 57th minute, Michael Owens connected on a chip shot goal assisted by Gunnar Studenhofft to secure his first career score. Owens is the eighth USF performer this season to score their first career goal. It was Studdenhofft’s second assist of the season and the ninth of his career.
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN HURRICANES
Tulsa dropped their Friday night clash last week to Charlotte, 1-0, which marked the team’s fifth shutout loss of the season. Camilo Vargas leads the team with three goals. Goalkeepers Carlito Saylon and Alex Lopez have combined for a pair of wins and 35
total saves.
SENIOR NIGHT
Prior to the match, 13 Seniors will be honored: Six graduate students (John Adekunle, Jalen Anderson, Mauro Gutierrez, Tim Mason, Felix Schaefer, Peter Wagner), a graduate manager (Rima El Brouzi), and six graduating seniors (Marco Astorga, Jorge Ortega, Julio Plata, Nicolas Scargle, Gunnar Studenhofft, Richard Thompson Jr.).
DAN HOLCOMB CHAIR DEDICATION
On Saturday night, a chair at Corbett Stadium will be dedicated in honor of the first men’s soccer coach in program history, Dan Holcomb. The Chair will feature a plaque in honor of Coach Holcomb’s memory. Coach Holcomb led the Bulls to 22 straight winning seasons. South Florida posted a 216-86-22 overall record during his 22-year career, captured eight Sun Belt Conference championships, and saw six NCAA Tournament Appearances. Holcomb was inducted into the second class of the USF Athletics Hall of Fame on December 3, 2010.

South Florida heads to Birmingham, Ala. to face UAB on Friday, Nov. 1. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will stream live on ESPN+.

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3.
