The Hurricanes record their first team victory of the season in Knoxville.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Miami golf team tallied its first team victory of the season Tuesday afternoon, shooting 10-over-par to win the 2024 Mercedes Benz Collegiate in Knoxville, Tenn.
Five Hurricanes finished inside the top 20 as the team recorded a 54-hole score of 862 (+10) on the par-71, 5,965-yard course at Cherokee Country Club.
The highlight of the tournament came in the second round when freshman Cloe Amion Villarino hit a hole-in-one on the 183-yard, par-3 second hole.
Amion Villarino and sophomore Rebekah Gardner both secured their first top-10 finishes of the season, placing tied for seventh with 54-hole scores of 215 (+2). Gardner tallied a final-round score of 69 (-2) to ascend seven spots in the final round.
Junior Olivia Grønborg, sophomore Barbora Bujáková and freshman Sofie Hlinomazová all finished tied for 18th after each shooting 218 (+5) in the tournament.
Playing as an individual, junior Katie Carman tied for 68th with a 54-hole score of 243 (+30).
Campbell and Tennessee finished tied for second with team scores of 867 (+15).
Miami returns home to host the 2024 Hurricane Invitational on Oct. 28-29 at the Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables, Fla.
