BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic will travel for the third time this season when the team faces UTSA in San Antonio, Texas, this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST. The game will air on ESPN+ and Fox Sports 640 AM South Florida.

FAU holds a 3-1 record versus the Roadrunners but is making just their second trek to UTSA. The Owls last traveled to San Antonio in 2019 and promptly marched to a 40-26 victory and secured the right to host the CUSA title game behind the 182-yard receiving efforts of Harrison Bryant, who is now in the NFL, and a combined 190 rushing yards. UTSA earned their lone victory over the FAU last year in Boca Raton, Florida.

The Owls are coming off a career performance by redshirt junior quarterback Cam Fancher, who ended the North Texas campaign with 351 yards on a 22-of-30 night, which included three TDs, both career highs. He was second on the team with 69 rushing yards. FAU has tallied 500+ yards on offense in each of their last two games, and much of that success can be attributed to the progression of the ground game. With four of the five starting offensive linemen being newcomers, time together has been key. The Owls totaled 572 yards of offense versus Wagner, including 315 on the ground. Versus North Texas, FAU had 519 yards of offense and ended with 168 rushing yards.

On the season, FAU leads the explosive play battle 32-25 with a defense that ranks No. 30 in third-down conversion, No. 14 in fumbles recovered, 16th in pass yards allowed, and 19th in turnovers gained. Three Owl rushers are in the AAC top 15: No. 10 CJ Campbell, No. 11 Zuberi Mobley, and No. 13 Cam Fancher. FAU’s defense is led by freshman safety CJ Heard, who is No. 2 nationally in fumbles recovered and No. 1 nationally among true freshmen in total tackles. His team-leading 42 tackles are five ahead of graduate linebacker Jackson Ambush. The special teams unit is led by veteran long snapper Nick Marino and redshirt junior Morgan Suarez, who recorded 13 points versus North Texas, pushing his total FAU career points to 112.
