American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the week ending Sunday, October 13.

Offensive Player of the Week

Aboubacar Traore, Jr., F, Florida Atlantic

Traore played a part in all three goals for the Owls in the 3-1 win over South Florida, scoring a goal and assisting on two more.

Defensive Player of the Week

Lasse Laursen, Sr., D, Charlotte

Laursen anchored a backline for 90 minutes that allowed just two shots on goal.


Goalkeeper of the Week

Nigel Van Haveren, So., FIU

Van Haveren posted three saves in a clean sheet draw against No. 22 Charlotte.

Freshman of the Week

Alex Cunningham, Fr., D, Tulsa

Cunningham scored his first career goal to help Tulsa draw against Central Arkansas.


Honorable Mention

Logan Longo, Gr., D, Memphis

Longo anchored a backline that allowed just four shots on goal against Temple.

Filip Sabatti, Jr., GK, Memphis

Sabatti finished with four saves in a clean sheet draw against Temple.

Edgar Aguilar, Sr., D, FIU

Aguilar anchored the Panthers backline that allowed just three shots on goal against No. 22 Charlotte.
