Florida’s Lauren Donovan is SEC Co-Offensive Soccer Player of the Week
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After her double goal performance in Friday’s 2-1 win over No. 22 Texas, Florida senior midfielder Lauren Donovan of Loveland, Ohio, shares the Southeastern Conference Offensive Soccer Player of the Week honor.
Donovan is the first Gator to earn a league mention this season and this is the first such honor of her UF career.
She shares the Oct. 7 offensive player of the week honor with Mississippi State’s Ally Perry. Other weekly SEC winners include MSU’s Maddy Anderson (Defensive) and Texas A&M’s Sydney Fuller (Freshman).
Quick Look at Donovan’s Performance:
* Provided all the scoring in Florida’s 2-1 win versus No. 22 Texas to open October play. The goals were the first of her collegiate career.
* Provided a quick start, heading in Vera Blom’s corner kick at 1:25. That goal is the 11th quickest in Florida’s 30 seasons.
* Her second goal at 65:36 proved to be the game-winner, hitting a composed 12-yard strike to the far post.
* She is the 21st to turn in multiple goals in the match with their first Gator goal. Of those 21, Donovan is one of three to provide all the Gator scoring of the match.
* Tied for second among Gators this season with two goals
* First Gator win versus a United Soccer Coaches top -25 program since 2019
