TULSA, Okla. – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer (2-4-3, 0-2-1 AAC) suffered a road defeat at Tulsa (2-7-1, 1-2 AAC) on Friday night. The Owls’ search for their first conference victory will continue next Friday at home against USF.
After a scoreless first 45, Tulsa drew first blood early in the second half. The Owls would equalize in the 65th minute via Mamadou Diarra’s fourth goal of the season. He was played into the box by Noah Kvifte and the senior chipped it over the outstretched goalkeeper to make it a 1-1 game.
The match appeared to be headed for another draw before the referee intervened in the final minute. He awarded a penalty kick to Tulsa after an Owls’ handball on the edge of the box. The PK was converted, and Tulsa escaped with a 2-1 victory.
FAU goalkeeper Nacho Alfaro finished with four saves. Both teams recorded with six shots on goal. 11 yellow cards and one red card were distributed.
Start time next Friday against USF is set for 7 p.m. Admission is free at the FAU Soccer Stadium.
