Volleyball – Sharks Sweep Sailfish in SSC Play

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The 24th ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Volleyball team got back into the win column, sweeping the visiting Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in a Sunshine State Conference on Friday night at the Rick Case Arena. Elizabeth Price led the Sharks with 12 kills, while Brittany Landrum continued her climb to the program’s all-time blocks record with five in the match.

How it Happened
  • Nova Southeastern raced out to an early 9-1 lead over the Sailfish in the opening set, as Taylor StockmanElizabeth PriceBrittany Landrum and Kate Mihacevich all recorded points.  
  • Kills from Price and Olivia Aniol extended the NSU advantage to 15-6 in the first set.  
  • Stockman led a 7-1 run for NSU, tallying three kills, as Nova Southeastern took a 23-11 lead.  
  • The Sharks sealed the 25-13 first set win after a kill by Aniol. 
  • NSU rallied with four consecutive points to begin the second set.  
  • Palm Beach Atlantic cut the Sharks’ lead to 10-8, but a 3-1 run by Nova Southeastern – capped off by a service ace by Marley Navaretta – extended the NSU lead to 13-9. 
  • Mihacevich and Aniol each tallied kills and service aces during a 7-2 rally, pushing the Sharks’ lead to 21-13.  
  • Stockman finished off the 25-17 second set win, giving NSU a 2-0 lead in the match. 
  • Trailing the Sailfish 6-5 in the third set, Aniol sparked a 3-0 run by Nova Southeastern, giving the Sharks an 8-6 lead. 
  • A 5-0 run by NSU, featuring a pair of kills from Mihacevich, pushed the lead to 16-9. 
  • PBA rallied back, bringing the score to 18-16 in favor of NSU, before a 5-0 run – which included three consecutive kills from Price – extended the Sharks’ lead to 23-16.  
  • Nova Southeastern finished off the sweep, their ninth of the season, winning the final set 25-19 over Palm Beach Atlantic.
