The City of Pompano Beach is celebrating the opening of the Wahoo Bay Conservation Site, a groundbreaking marine park located in the sheltered waters of the Hillsboro Inlet.
Wahoo Bay is the result of a collaborative effort between the City of Pompano Beach, Broward County, the State of Florida, and Shipwreck Park, Inc. This innovative project aims to ignite a passion for ocean conservation, particularly among the younger generations.
Designed to be an immersive educational experience, Wahoo Bay fosters environmental awareness and inspires visitors to become stewards of our precious oceans. Guests will have the unique opportunity to explore a protected underwater world rich in marine life through snorkeling adventures, allowing them to encounter the wonders of the local ecosystem up close. Additionally, the facility will provide real-time data on water quality and weather conditions, broadcasting live from the Bay, helping visitors gain a deeper understanding of the delicate balance within our marine environment.
Wahoo Bay also serves as a catalyst for the “Blue Economy,” promoting a future where ocean industries thrive alongside healthy marine ecosystems. By partnering with local schools and universities, Wahoo Bay empowers students to pursue careers in marine science and technology.
