Four Teams Open Conference Play With Wins
Four schools opened American Athletic Conference play with wins last weekend as Charlotte, UAB, South Florida and Memphis all began 1-0. Two of those teams, South Florida and Charlotte, will face off on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Charlotte Shutouts
The Charlotte 49ers have been impressive at home, heading back to last season. With a 1-0 win over (RV) Campbell on last week, the 49ers recorded their 7th straight home shutout, dating back to October 13 of last season. During that time frame, Charlotte has outscored opponents 15-0. The 49ers will look to extend their streak on Friday when they host South Florida.
Blazers Hitting The Target
The UAB Blazers have made their opponents work this season, ranking in the Top 15 in the nation in shot accuracy. At 51.4 percent accuracy, the Blazers are the lone team in the conference being on target on over 50 percent of their shots.
49ers Move Up in Rankings
With a 5-0-2 record on the season, the Charlotte 49ers jumped 10 spots in the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 to No. 9 in the nation. They also appeared in the TopDrawer Soccer Rankings for the first time this season, coming in at No. 20.
NCAA RPI Released
The first RPI report of the season was released this week with three American teams ranking in the Top 60 in the nation. Charlotte leads the pack at No. 8, followed by UAB at No. 30 and FIU at No. 58.
