9/21/2024 | Men’s Soccer | Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer (2-3-1, 0-1 AAC) rallied from two goals down in the second half on Saturday night before ultimately conceding the winner to UAB (3-1-3, 1-0 AAC) in the waning minutes. The Owls fell behind 2-0 in the first half after UAB goals in the 13th and 32nd minutes. The second half comeback was sparked in the 64th minute. Aboubacar Traore lofted a cross into the six-yard box, and Noah Kvifte found space to head it home. Traore was at the center of it again 12 minutes later. This time, the junior cut inside on the UAB defender and fired off a shot that deflected off the hands of the Blazers’ keeper. Traore’s second of the season tied the game at 2-2. The match remained tied until UAB stole the winner against the run of play in the 85th minute. The Owls had 15 shot attempts compared to just eight for UAB (8-6 SOG). Florida Atlantic returns to action on Tuesday in non-conference play against Jacksonville. They return home on Sunday, September 29, against Temple. |
