USF MSOC: South Florida Downs FIU In Conference Opener, 1-0

TAMPA, FLA., Sept. 20, 2024 – South Florida men’s soccer (3-1-4; 1-0-0) prevailed against in-state rival FIU (2-4-1; 0-1-0) at Corbett Stadium on Friday night, 1-0.

With two seconds to spare in the first half, Jemone Barclay helped set up a Marcelo Mondragon-assisted goal for Pedro Faife off a corner kick, his first of the season. This would end up being the only goal of the night, but enough for South Florida to hold off FIU. The final stance for USF and FIU would see a similar physical tone but the Panthers could not put together a scoring opportunity late to tie.

This win for the Bulls marks the team’s first victory over the Panthers since 2008. Felix Schaefer secured his second-straight shutout, his third on the season.
