IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, September 15.
Offensive Player of the Week
Taylor Davenport, Gr., OH, Temple
Davenport was a force for the Owls this week as the graduate outside hitter averaged 5.91 points per set and 5.27 kills per set. She also added 2.73 digs per set to help lead Temple to wins over Louisiana and New Hampshire.
Defensive Player of the Week
Chelci Banks, Jr., MB, Temple
Banks had a strong defensive weekend, leading the Owls with 1.14 blocks per set to guide Temple to wins over Louisiana and New Hampshire. The senior finished with nine total blocks across three matches.
Setter of the Week
Brayden Hipp, Jr., S, Tulsa
Hipp helped guide the Golden Hurricane to its second ranked win in program history, defeating No. 22 Arkansas in five sets. Hipp finished with three double doubles on the week, including 31 assists and 15 digs in the win over the Razorbacks.
Freshman of the Week
Ally Tribe, Fr., OH, UTSA
Tribe averaged 4.40 points per set, while hitting .287 on the week. She had a weekend-high 22 kills in the win over Sam Houston. She also added 1.00 blocks per set and 1.60 digs per set.
Honorable Mention
Kelsey Smith, Jr., S, UAB
Smith finished with 5.91 assists per set, while also adding 2.50 points per set from the setter position. Defensively she had 2.00 digs per set.
Kristen Birmingham, Sr., OH, Charlotte
Birmingham led the 49ers with 5.00 points per set, while hitting at a clip of .215. She finished the weekend with two double doubles in two matches.
Fran McBride, Gr., RS, East Carolina
In the lone match for the Pirates, McBride tallied a career-high 16 kills while hitting .448 to help East Carolina defeat Campbell in five sets.
Tabytha Toelke, Sr., OH, Memphis
Toelke finished with 3.11 points per set while hitting .324 as the Tigers defeated Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Indiana State. She also recorded her 1,000th career dig over the weekend.
Sami Jacobs, Gr., OH, Tulane
Jacobs led the Green Wave with 4.80 points pers et and 4.30 kills per set as Tulane picked up a pair of wins over Grambling and ULM.
