TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 13, 2024 – South Florida men’s soccer (2-1-3) reboots the War On I4 against No. 10 UCF (2-1-2) on Sunday night in Orlando. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m. and the match will air live on ESPN+.
SETTING THE STAGE
The Bulls are searching for their second straight win for the first time this season. The Knights look to avoid dropping two straight after their in-state loss to FIU, 4-3.
SOUTH FLORIDA-UCF SERIES
Sunday night is the 39th all-time meeting in the USF-UCF rivalry. South Florida leads the series (27-9-3). The last showdown resulted in a South Florida victory, 2-1 (Nov. 2nd, 2022). This is the first non-conference match between the teams since 2012. The Bulls have won eight of the last 12 pairings and earned victories in two straight matches against the Knights.
LAST TIME OUT
Gunnar Studenhofft secured his second-straight goal on Monday night in USF’s 2-1 victory against UC Irvine. Marcelo Mondragon grabbed the go-ahead goal, the first collegiate score of his career.
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
UCF fell in their last time out on Wednesday night against FIU, 4-3. The Knights allowed three goals in the second half. Emmanuel Bam and Clarence Awoudor are the team leaders in goals with three.
A LOOK AHEAD
South Florida starts conference play at home against FIU on Friday, Sept. 20. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the match will stream live on ESPN+.

USF Men’s Soccer competed in the school’s first-ever intercollegiate athletic contest on Sept. 25, 1965, beating Florida Southern 4-3. Since then, the oldest program on campus has built a winning tradition, claiming 14 conference championships and making 22 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 3 trips to the elite eight.

Notable alumni include two-time MLS Golden Boot winner Jeff Cunningham, USA 1994 World Cup star Roy Wegerle, and 2013 MLS Cup winner Dom Dwyer. Men’s Soccer has two Alumni and a coach in the USF Athletics Hall of Fame: Fergus Hopper and Jeff Attinella, & Dan Holcomb. Cunningham has also been selected to join the USF Athletics Hall of Fame this Fall.
The Bulls have reached the NCAA Tournament 13 times over the past 22 seasons.
