UF MGOLF | Gators Climb in Round Two with 17-Shot Improvement

Florida moved up five spots with a 5-under 283 led by Rylan Shim’s bogey-free 67 (-5).

SEATTLE, Wash.  – The Florida men’s golf team used a 17-shot improvement and 5-under round two at the Sahalee Players Championship to climb five spots and sit T6 heading into the final round on Sunday.

UF bounced back from opening round of 300 (+12) and sitting in T11 and in out of 13th place. Sophomore Jack Turner leads the Gators as he is tied for 8th and 1-under through 36 holes behind a round two of 2-under 70.

Two Gators – Zack Swanwick (T57) and Rylan Shim – both are making their collegiate debuts this weekend at Sahalee Country Club. Shim is in the No. 5 spot in the lineup and Swanwick playing as an individual. Shim shot a team-low and bogey-free 5-under 67, a 12-shot improvement from his opening round. He is tied for 26th.

The other three Gators in the lineup – Parker Bell, Ian Gilligan and Matthew Kress (T57) – all improved in the second set of 18 holes. Bell (T52) and Gilligan (T34) owned round two’s of 73 (+1).

The final round concludes tomorrow with Florida teeing off at 10:31 a.m.
