BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic men’s soccer (1-1-1) welcomes Utah Valley (2-0-1) to Boca Raton on Thursday night for match number three of the current four-match homestand. Start time is set for 7 p.m. at the FAU Soccer Stadium.
About the Owls
- The Owls are coming off a 3-1 win over Belmont on Sunday night.
- Noah Kvifte, Mamadou Diarra, and Aboubacar Traore each tallied their first (official) goals of the season.
- In Diarra’s case, it may have been his fourth of the season if the Stetson match from last Thursday is eventually completed after being suspended with the Owls up 3-1 in the 53rd minute.
- Even without last week’s first-half hat trick being official, Diarra was still awarded AAC Offensive Player of the Week after a goal and two assist performance on Sunday.
- Freshman Kasper Heerfordt was also recognized by the conference with Defensive Player of the Week honors.
About the Wolverines
- Utah Valley is 2-0-1 with wins over Sacramento State and UC-San Diego and a draw with UC-Davis on their resume.
- Former MLS and US National Team veteran Kyle Beckerman lead the Wolverines in his fourth season as head coach.
- Six of Utah Valley’s eight goals so far have been scored by three players: Isaac Emojong, Omar Yehya, and Keith Willey.
- The Wolverines compete in the WAC conference where they fell to UNLV in overtime in the first round of last year’s postseason tournament.
Series History
- FAU and Utah Valley have met once before back in 2018. UVU came away with a 4-0 home victory.
What’s Next
- After Thursday, the Owls will have a week to recoup before hosting UNF on Friday, September 13.
