BOCA RATON, Fla. – Senior Elyssa Toal was named the American Athletic Conference Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon.
After her performance at the 2024 Florida Atlantic Invitational, Toal becomes the first member of the cross country/track & field program to win the weekly AAC honor as well as the first Owl to win for cross country since 2022. In her spectacular outing on Friday night, she placed fifth overall and was the top finisher for the first-place Florida Atlantic team with a time of 18:17.48. She now holds the fastest time ever recorded by an Owl at the South County Regional Park.

The Owls will travel to Jacksonville to compete in the UNF XC Invitational on Sept. 13.
