Florida’s Cade Kurland, Brody Donay and Jake Clemente are 2024 Cape Cod League All-Stars.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida baseball trio of infielder Cade Kurland<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/cade-kurland/16372>, catcher/designated hitter Brody Donay<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/brody-donay/16621> and right-handed pitcher Jake Clemente<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/jake-clemente/16366> were all honored as 2024 Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) All-Stars as representatives of the East Division, as announced by the CCBL over the weekend.
Additionally, Donay and Clemente were named the CCBL Players of the Week on Monday. From July 13-19, Donay slashed .467/.529/.933 across four games. He totaled two home runs, one double and three RBI for the Brewster Whitecaps en route to solidifying his spot on the CCBL All-Star Game roster. On the summer, Donay is batting .250/.311/.500 with five homers, two doubles, 10 RBI and 10 runs.
As for Clemente, the rising redshirt sophomore tossed seven shutout, one-hit innings to power Brewster to a 7-0 victory over Harwich on July 17. He fanned six and did not issue a walk, lowering his summer ERA to a minuscule 1.93. Clemente is one of four qualified CCBL pitchers with an ERA under 2.00 this season while his 0.96 WHIP ranks fifth.
Joining the two UF Players of the Week on the CCBL All-Star roster is Kurland, who represents the Harwich Mariners. In 18 games, the Gators second baseman is hitting .264/.346/.347 highlighted by one homer, three doubles, 12 runs, and eight RBI. Kurland has also swiped four bags in five attempts while posting a .977 fielding percentage at the keystone.
The CCBL’s 33rd annual East vs. West All-Star Game is set to take place at Guv Fuller Field, home of the Falmouth Commodores, on Saturday, July 27. Donay and Kurland will start at first base and second base, respectively, for the East squad.

Blake Brookins<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/blake-brookins/16620> – In five starts with the Charlottesville Tom Sox of the Valley League, Brookins wields a 1.083 OPS at the dish. He has gone deep once in 12 at bats behinds four runs scored.
Kyle Jones – Transferring to Florida after hitting .355 with five homers and 23 steals as a freshman at Stetson, Jones is having a strong summer with the North Shore Navigators of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, delivering a .313 batting average a .407 on-base percentage. The Athens, Ga. native has also churned out one triple, one double, 14 RBI, seven runs and two stolen bases this summer.
Colby Shelton<https://floridagators.com/sports/baseball/roster/colby-shelton/16639> – Recently added to Brewster’s roster, Shelton was welcomed by UF teammates Donay and Clemente on the Whitecaps. Shelton has started four games – three at shortstop and one at third base. He owns two hits, three runs scored and one walk in his short time on the Cape.
