DETROIT PISTONS AGREE IN PRINCIPLE TO ACQUIRE DRAFT RIGHTS TO BOBI KLINTMAN

DETROIT, Mich. (June 27, 2024) – The Detroit Pistons announced today that the team has agreed in principle to acquire the draft rights to Bobi Klintman from the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of a larger deal that is expected to be finalized after the league moratorium ends on July 6.

Selected with the 37th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, Klintman, 6-9, 212, appeared in 23 games for Cairns Taipans while averaging 9.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.5 blocks in 21.3 minutes per game while shooting 35.7% from 3-point range as part of the Australian NBL’s ‘Next Stars’ Program during the 2023-24 season.

Prior to his stint overseas, the Malmo, Sweden, native played one season collegiately at Wake Forest during the 2022-23 NCAA season and averaged 5.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 0.6 blocks over 33 games while shooting 40.7% from the field and 36.8% from 3-point range for the Deamon Deacons.

Klintman moved from Sweden to the United States in 2021 for his senior year of high school at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas. He earned All-Tournament First Team honors at the 2022 FIBA U20 European Championship Division B while leading Sweden to a 6-1 record.
